Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Chief Accountant to lead and manage the accounting operations of our firm. This role involves a dual responsibility: handling the accounting for a group of clients, and overseeing the entire accounting team to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in U.S. accounting and be highly proficient in QuickBooks, with hands-on experience in payroll journal entries and accurate posting to Profit & Loss statements. A solid understanding of U.S. tax returns including S-Corporations, C- Corporations, and LLCs s essential, especially the ability to post correct year-end journal entries and reconcile financials with the filed tax returns. Note: Tax return preparation is not required.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting tasks for a group of assigned monthly, quarterly, and yearly clients.
- Lead and supervise the accounting team, ensuring timely and accurate work delivery.
- Oversee journal entries, bank reconciliations, general ledger review, and financial reporting.
- Ensure payroll journal entries are correctly recorded and reflected in the Profit & Loss.
- Review and finalize year-end adjustments to match financials with submitted tax returns.
- Coordinate with tax and compliance teams to ensure financial accuracy.
- Handle a high volume of clients across different industries while maintaining quality service.
- Contribute to improving internal systems and accounting workflows.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in U.S. accounting.
- Strong command of QuickBooks and sound knowledge of U.S. accounting principles.
- Good understanding of U.S. business tax returns (S-Corp, C-Corp, LLC) to ensure proper
- year-end entries and reconciliation with financials.
- Proven ability to supervise and lead a team effectively.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a high client volume with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA or equivalent qualification preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a U.S.-based environment.
- Proven experience with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)..
- Excellent understanding of U.S. payroll processes and tax implications.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
